Our class text is the Barnabus Project by the Fan Brothers. Our grammar skills include verb tenses and fronted adverbials. We will be writing our own sequel to the Barnabus Project.

We will then move on to studying poetry by Michael Rosen and some Halloween poetry. performing poems and identifying features of poetry before writing our own poems.

Maths

This term we are focusing on understanding Place Value before we move on to Addition and Subtraction, improving our fluency before looking at formal written methods.

RE

We are thinking about our own family and our Church family, making links between the two and thinking how we can live our Christian values through our families. We are also learning about the Sacrament of Baptism as being how we join our Church family.

Science

In science, we are learning about light. We will investigate different light sources, learning about how we see. We will also consider sun safety and why it is important scientifically.

Geography

We are studying the human and physical features of the UK, including cities, mountains and rivers before focusing in on land use in Batley and how it has changed over time, thinking about why settlement locations were chosen. We will also look at tourist attractions in Yorkshire.

Art

We are looking at light and dark through paint, investigating shading to create an effect.

Computing

We are learning about online safety, including how to use the internet safely as well as discussing fake news, influencer culture and ways to improve our own online safety.
